Massimo Toccato and Lindorf Dapertutto are researchers in the field of artistic teaching, having developed the revolutionary ‘Method of neo-nervous-electromagnetic singing’. This system is yet in its experimental phase but its efficiency can be demonstrated by Olímpia Toccato, a former pupil, considered today by some as the interpreter with the best (electro) technique on a global level.
The promotional strategy regarding the public presentation of the ‘method’ revolves around the conduction of ‘master classes’ in theatres, gardens and public squares of different cities. These public classes, beyond admitting semi-professional students, like Franz Cochenille, are also open to candidates from the audience. However, their choice should not to be random: the less quality the new students show, the better reputation they will give to their teachers…
By luck, this unusual marketing operation finds its ideal support. From the audience comes an individual filled with confidence and without fear of speaking: João Mateus. This spectator begins to manifest strong reservations concerning the ‘method’ and claims he is not ‘one of those that are easily fooled’… Next, and revealing he is the most courageous and the one with the least artistic talent, he climbs on the stage and submits himself to a shocking treatment. The results exceed all expectation: João Mateus takes on the adventure of the artistic singing and becomes the ‘primo tenore assoluto’ whom Toccato has always dreamt of to be the leading singer in this ‘opera prima’. A huge wave of success is expected!!
But is it just like that? Does it really work? Toccato and Lindorf have no doubts about it…
